"Easy to lay" A misogynistic case in point
In the news today, a flooring company took down a billboard poster they had put up with a woman in a tight dress and high heels and the tag line 'It's so easy to lay'. Were they saying that the flooring is so easy to lay that a woman can do it, or, it's easy to lay, like this woman? The company was asked about it and the only comment made is that they've removed it as soon as they were made aware it was causing offence. The reality is we'll never know exactly which of those scenarios were floated around the board room table although we might make some assumptions about the misogynistic tendencies of those coming up with the ideas. The thing is, this is representative of the current culture. It's death by a thousand papercuts. The continuous microaggressions against women.
